“4HIM's career started in January of 1990, so we had a front row seat to the greatest decade of CCM! Mixtape Theology is not only a gift to those of us who were a part of so many great songs during that era, but also to the listeners who made the journey with us."

“Point of Grace entered the music scene in the early 90’s when Christian music was really ramping up. There were finally outlets for all types of genre’s of music, but all with The good news of the gospel. Songwriters could actually make a living writing Christian music and we feel we had an opportunity to sing some of those amazing songs. I love the idea of Mixtape Theology! It is definitely the soundtrack to much of my life. Remembering these great songs and having these devotionals that go along with them speaks to my soul.”
Denise Jones, Point of Grace

“At the risk of sounding self serving, I have to say that the 90’s was a unique time for music across all genres. Christian music is no exception to that rule. As an artist and songwriter, I appreciate when the focus is on Jesus and the gospel message is front and center. As Proverbs 25:2 says, It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out. The 90’s was a time of seeking things out for me and so many of my compatriots. Mixtape Theology is a spiritually enlightening journey into some of the best songs of the era and a nostalgic ride you will enjoy. At the end of it all, we remember that we truly need a ‘Common Creed.’ We need Jesus, the Savior of the world!”

“Mixtape Theology: 90’s Christian Edition is a welcome trip down memory lane with artists and music that left a cultural impact. More importantly, however, through personal stories and biblical references, the writers reveal the spiritual significance that connected these truths to the hearts of listeners. This book will give you a warm sense of nostalgia while drawing you back to the cross of Christ.”

If you grew up on 90s Christian music, then you probably have pretty fond memories of what that subculture was like to be a part of. Mixtape Theology is a clever, funny, joyful and inspiring look back at a time when believers were proud, most of all, of being a "Jesus Freak" and had their thoughts frequently dwelling on what Jesus would do in any given situation. As you can imagine, this era of CCM massively shaped my own faith and even who I'd become as an adult, and there's an encouraging yet bittersweet experience to be had in revisiting it through a book like this. Mofield & Cash have crafted an accurate retrospective of this incredible time in the history of Christian music and culture... and it makes me long for those glory days of Christian rock music."

“This book transports me back to my roots, buying music for a local Christian bookstore in the 90s. I'm reminded of that place and stage of my life, as well as the deep truths of my faith. As a former church planter and megachurch pastor for 17 years--and now as a business owner with several years in the marketplace--this book calls me to live in the present and engage my theology in my everyday life. Mixtape Theology remembers the 90s with some welcome nostalgia, but it also challenges us to live forward with truth and conviction. It gives us good reasons to keep these songs playing on repeat in our hearts and minds--and, hopefully, on our stereos.”

What is Mixtape Theology?
As part-devotional and part-90’s retrospective, Mixtape Theology is an exercise in going deeper into the Bible verses behind our favorite 90s CCM songs resulting in a fuller understanding of God and His redemptive plan.
We also poke fun and reminisce about what made the 90s Christian culture so awesome. We hope to be funny yet inspiring, kind of like a good Mark Lowry joke about his sweet mama.
